Job Experience
Building and maintaining WordPress websites…and more.
A little bit of history…
WordPress Solution Provider
Besides my own websites, I’ve done a number of them for various people and organizations. And I’ve done a lot of support and maintenance work on WP sites, including edit/update of themes and plugins, security scans and hack repair, backup plans and implementation, and site transfers to new hosting.
I am regularly active in a number of WordPress groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. Visit the Portfolio page for samples and come on over to LinkedIn or Facebook and connect with me.
IT Manager/Web Developer at The Garden City Telegram
Working for the local newspaper allowed me to use the web and photographic skills I have, and to build new ones. I had to quickly learn the software, Mac hardware, prepress operations, layout and design software, and how they all worked together. A challenge, but I was able to do it in a few months.
I revamped their website, taught myself InDesign and worked regularly with the Creative/Page layout staff, redesigned their InDesign templates for daily and special publications, and ran a number of WordPress based blogs and forums during the years I was there.
I also had the opportunity to shoot a home for their SW Kansas Living magazine and contributed images to the Zoo calendar in 2012. (4 images were mine and I shot all of them on a Friday afternoon!)
Owner / Photographer at KP Photography
As much as I love to shoot nature and wildlife, it doesn’t pay well. So I also shoot families and senior portraits. I’ve also done the yearbook photos for the local Homeschool group 2 years in a row.
Visit kpphotography.com for more info and samples of my work.
Store Manager for Ritz Camera & Wolf Camera
A little over 5 years combined, managing 2 different stores for Ritz and Wolf. For Ritz I managed a store in Tampa, FL and increased sales over 20% during my stay. The store was on target to hit $1,000,000 when I left, and we had an ever growing group of regular customers.
I was also the first Photo class Instructor in Florida for Ritz Camera.
For Wolf Camera I managed a store in Parker, CO and took it from struggling business to a successful one. Sales went from $480,000 to $630,000 in about 2 years and our reputation in the area was “the helpful, friendly guys down at the Wolf store in Parker.”
